Geography

Northern Pakistan is at the crossroads of the three highest mountain ranges on the planet. In the North gather the western part of the Himalayas, the Karakoram and Hindu Kush.

The Karakoram which means "black rock" stretches from the valley of Gilgit to Karambar up to the south of Sinkiang. It includes alone more than 100 peaks above 7000 m. Most are in the high Karakoram chain, which stretches along 300 km from the Batura Wall up to Baltoro Muztagh.

To the west, overlooking Afghanistan is the Hindu Kush, "Indian Killer" with its highest peak, the Tirich Mir: 7708m.
In the South ends the Himalayas, with the most massive mountain in the world, Nanga Parbat: 8125 m.

This is a region of mountains and valleys, with 10 of the 25 highest peaks in the world.
